3D Measurement of complex, functional and close-fit parts

It is essential that we can demonstrate that the complex, functional and close-fit parts that we manufacture are correct to shape, size and form.

At the heart of PJS Mouldings’ measurement capability is our CMM. A computer-driven Coordinate Measurement Machine run by our skilled Programmer/Operator. This is used to obtain 3D measurements of parts, with an electronic touch-driven powered rotary contact probe.

We use PC-DMIS software to program the CMM to move safely around the part.

This takes necessary measurements, evaluates and outputs the results, ready for analysis by our team of trained engineers.

Using a variety of sizes and geometries of probe tips for various different applications, enable us to increase the flexibility of the CMM as a measurement tool. This maximises the relevance of the measurement reports.
Unlike many CMMs owned by small companies, PJS Mouldings maintains annual calibration of the CMM to UKAS traceable standards.

This ensures that our measurements are always accurate, and compensates for gradual wear to the machine components.

Because our CMM runs on one shift, so we have the capability and capacity to support other companies in measurement and evaluation of other parts.

Components that could be measured using the CMM include

Plastic Injection Mouldings
Metal Pressings – both brackets and sheet pressings
Machined components
Shaped glazing units
Assemblies
